No Time For That: 10 Remixes Artists Could Have Kept To Themselves [LISTEN]

June 17, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

In today's Hip-Hop climate, the remix has become nothing more than the original track with new features tagged on. Therefore, rappers should make their second go around all the more memorable if they're going to force feed fans basically the same meal twice.

Unfortunately, we know that isn't the case. In all actuality, some of these remixes are abysmal; others were doomed from the start, because the original record wasn't all that live to being with. In any case, consider this to be a wake up call to those we feel have committed audible crimes with their second efforts.

And this isn't to say that these artists are bad —they just made a bad decision.

We deemed a few remixes as summer anthem candidates weeks ago. Ironically, some of these same songs saw their hoop dreams deflate like a true fiend's weight.

Check out the gallery on the following pages to see a list of second attempts that your favorite rappers should have locked in the archives. Let us know if you agree in the comments.

DJ Khaled ft. Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne – “No New Friends” [VIDEO]

June 9, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

The video whose behind the scenes photos started that hilarious Drake meme is finally here. DJ Khaled's visual for "No New Friends," featuring Drizzy, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne, arrives and now all the old school gear makes senses.

The clip takes it back to 1996, hitting all the rap video cliches (that still are prominent by the way). Drizzy raps in a Jeep (and wears what should have been forgotten fashion), vixens hop out of 90's era Benzes, Khaled barks into a humongous cellular phone, Weezy rocks a tall white tee and Rozay sports a track suit; representing the past. Fast forward to the present, and it's the same team of rappers getting into the same Hip-Hop video debauchery.

The Boi-1da and Noah "40" Shebib produced track—which is why it's basically a Drake song—will be landing on Khaled's forthcoming Suffering From Success. Watch the video for "No New Friends" below.

Rick Ross ft. Jadakiss – “Oil Money Gang” [VIDEO]

June 5, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

It is officially Maybach Music Group season. Shortly after releasing the song, Rick Ross drops the video for the Jadakiss assisted "Oil Money Gang."

The clip plays like a short film, with a mechanic and son his song going through some hard times that get magnified when the latter has an accident with motor oil. The music video itself finds Rozay and Al Qaeda Jada spittin' their rhymes in a room filled with ridiculous amounts of cash, in front of exotic whips and private jets. Clearly, if this wasn't fantasy, these guys don't believe in using actual banks.

Rozay's new album, Mastermind, is due out later this year. MMG's latest compilation, Self Made, Vol. 3, is due in stores August 6. Watch the Dre Films-directed video for "Oil Money Gang" below.

Wale ft. Rick Ross & Lupe Fiasco – “Poor Decisions” [VIDEO]

June 4, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

Yesterday, MMG debuted three tracks set to appear on their forthcoming album, Self Made Vol. 3. Less than 24 hours later, the collective liberate a visual for a stand out in the bunch titled "Poor Decisions."

"Rich n***as making poor decisions" chants the chorus, but the song really details the opposite. A potent trio in Rick Ross, Lupe Fiasco, and Wale band together to discuss the pitfalls of living outside of your means, and the video echoes that sentiment.

Various locales host the MCs, while scenes of individuals making irresponsible choices are the focal point of the treatment. The Food & Liquor rapper also deserves an applause for his top notch verse.

DRE Films handled directorial duties, as per usual. Once MMG gets the ball rolling, you can bet your bottom dollar that more content is to come. With that said, it's very possible that the Internets will see shots for Rockie Fresh's "God Is Great" and Rozay's "Oil Money Gang," featuring Jadakiss, soon.

Self Made Vol. 3 releases August 6. Peep the message in "Poor Decisions" below.

Rick Ross Bullies TMZ Camera Man, Demands He Learns Wale’s Release Date [VIDEO]

June 4, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

You can never say Rick Ross doesn't ride for his team. While exiting the offices of MMG distributor Atlantic Records, a TMZ videographer/camera man learned that Rozay prefers to control when and where he is recorded, and demands that you know exactly when Wale's album drops.

"When you see me, you film," said the Bawse. In less than a minute, Ross makes sure that Omarion gets some camera time, points out DJ Scream, corrects the camera man's flubbing of Wale's new project's release date and also warns TMZ founder Harvey Levin to play the video for a week straight or else be paid a visit. Calm down folks, the Mastermind rapper was just kidding around.

On another note, doesn't Maybach O look more like an assistant than artist? Are those lattes in his hand? No shots.

Watch Rozay bully around the camera man below. Oh yeah, Wale's new album, The Gifted, is in stores June 25. Ruh!

Rick Ross Ft. Jadakiss – “Oil Money Gang” [LISTEN]

June 3, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

Today (June 3) was clearly Maybach Music Group Internet day. Here we have a Rick Ross track called "Oil Money Gang" and featuring Jadakiss.

Rozay gets treated to one of those atmospheric, cinematic beats by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. As for the rhymes, the Bawse is still rhyming about this ultra-fabulous life, moving up from snow many to oil money. Kiss comes through with pristine bars that once again make you wonder why this guy still hasn't dropped a universally regarded classic album yet.

With Wale's "Bad (Remix)," Rockie Fresh's "God Is Great," and Mr. Folarin's "Poor Decisions," featuring Rick Ross and Lupe Fiasco, that makes for a total of four new cuts. Not a bad haul for the cost we'd say. By the logo on the artwork, expect "Oil Money Gang" to appear on the forthcoming Self Made Vol. 3 project. Also, we'd put bets that a remix will appear on Ross' upcoming Mastermind album, too.

Wale ft. Rick Ross & Lupe Fiasco – “Poor Decisions” [LISTEN]

June 3, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

This one hell of a rhyme line up. Wale drops a new track called "Poor Decisions," featuring Rick Ross and Lupe Fiasco, from Self Made Vol. 3 album.

"Rich ni--as making poor decisions," goes the songs hook. Sounds like he can be talking about athletes and rappers considering their tax troubles, unfortunately. Rozay spins his usual drug deal fantasies with a hint of righteousness while Wale and Lupe stay more focused on message about prepping for the future. The sublime beat is hooked up by Jake One.

That's three new MMG tracks today since Rockie Fresh dropped a new joint called "God Is Great" and Wale also let loose the CDQ version of his "Bad (Remix)." Looks like Mr. Folarin is trying to make sure he doesn't get lost in the upcoming Kanye West, J. Cole, and even Mac Miller, shuffle of releases.

Wale's new project, The Gifted, is in stores June 25 and he just revealed its featured guests, which also include Nicki Minaj, Juicy J, Wiz Khalifa and Yo Gotti, among others. Listen to "Poor Decisions" below.

Maybach Music Group – Self Made Vol. 3 Album Cover [PHOTO]

June 3, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

It's shaping up to be a MMG summer. French Montana's Excuse My French ushered in the season, Wale's up next with The Gifted just weeks away, and last night we discovered that the collective will deliver Self Made Vol. 3 August 6.

Veteran journalist Shaheem Reid posted the album's artwork and release date on Instagram last night after Summer Jam. If this cover sticks, it will don the number three on an all black background. The numeral, of course, is designed to look like those that appear on dollar bills.

If previous installments of the Self Made series is any indication of what to expect, we know that the project will don a few hit records. The only difference is the noticeable amount of depth the house that Rick Ross built has acquired since their last offering. In addition to Wale, Omarion, Meek Mill, and Stalley, the crew now have French and Rockie Fresh on the roster. Here's to hoping that we receive another "Power Circle" type verse from Gunplay too.

In light of this announcement, be aware the Rozay is also prepping his Mastermind LP and Meek still promises his Dreamchasers mixtape very soon. Now that's what you call flooding the market.

It warms our hearts to say that Hip-Hop will flourish this summer 2013. See the art for Self Made Vol. 3 on the following page.

Gucci Mane ft. Rick Ross – “Trap House 3″ [VIDEO]

May 28, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

A brief stint in jail didn't stop Gucci Mane from getting the ball rolling for the promotional efforts of his street album, Trap House 3. This month, fans could count on numerous drops per week from the ATLien. With just days to spare in May, he continues his output with a cinematic visual for the project's title track.

Gucci manages a steady operation at the trap spot with some assistance from his cohort Rick Ross here, but things get interesting after a transaction goes sour.

MMG's in-house director DRE Films got his Scorsese on with this treatment.

"Trap House 3" only scratches the surfaces on what can be heard on the full LP. Fortunately, Gucci provided a full stream of his latest opus for your enjoyment.

We suggest that you check that out if knocking beats and ignorant rhymes are your cup of tea. Also be sure to watch the vid for "Trap House 3" below.
