Today, March 9, will forever be known as the day Hip-Hop lost the late, great Christopher "The Notorious B.I.G." Wallace. Sixteen years after his death, Obie Trice borrows the Frank White's flow, cadence, and affinity for storytelling on a tribute track, titled "Pocket Full."

Struggle rappers, please be aware that Trice comes from a long line of talented Detroit lyricists. You unfortunately do not, so please keep your Biggie tributes for your enablers. Hear "Pocket Full" below.

Detroit Rapper And D-12 Affiliate King Gordy Shot 5 Times

February 7, 2013 in News by D.L. Chandler

King Gordy, a close ally of D-12 rapper Bizarre, was shot five times on Tuesday (February 5) in what some sources say was a robbery attempt. Although details are scarce, it is thought that Gordy survived the gunshots.

A longtime mainstay of the Motor City's underground rap scene, King Gordy has worked with a variety of Detroit rappers including Eminem. His debut album, The Entity, was executive produced by Slim Shady and featured D-12's Bizarre and Obie Trice.

Gordy, 35, was also affiliated with rapper Esham, and shares the veteran's penchant for outlandish “horrorcore” rap tracks. Gordy has also recorded with the late rapper Proof, Tech N9ne and Stic Man of dead prez.

Gordy dabbled in acting, making his debut in Eminem's 2002 film 8 Mile as the character Big O. Bizarre went to Twitter to voice his support for his childhood friend. “King gordy.. get well my n---a.. I'm praying for u... I'm on way back know to the d,” tweeted Bizarre.

This story is developing.

French Montana And The Best Hip-Hop Album Covers Featuring Kids [PHOTOS]

January 29, 2013 in News by Kazeem Famuyide (@RealLifeKaz)

French Montana's debut album, Excuse My Frenchis finally set for a April 16th release date.

The Moroccan rapper isn't the first and will definitely not be the last to place a kid on the front of their album. “It is about the journey of an artist that has come from Morocco to New York and worked his way to becoming one of hip hop's hottest movements,” Bad Boy President Harve Pierre said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

And when artists choose to place a child or a picture of themselves as children as their album cover it usually is a statement of that same journey. Placing a child on your album cover usually shows that you have come of age. That you are a boy (or girl) who is now a man (or woman) and now, you are ready to tell your story.

Nas pulled it off with Illmatic, The Notorious B.I.G. did it with Ready To Die,  and nearly two decades later Kendrick Lamar accomplished the same feat with good kid, m.A.A.d. city. Will Mr. "Fanute The Coupe" pull off the same impressive debut? We'll see.

For now, check out some of the most memorable Hip-Hop album covers with children on the cover.
