Mary J. Blige Slapped With $3.4 Million Tax Lien

May 20, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

Mary J. Blige has held the Queen of Hip-Hop R&B title for too long, and sold too many albums, to be having financial problems like these. The "Be Happy" singer has been hit with a $3.4 million dollar federal tax lien.

TMZ reports:

Mary J. Blige's financial woes have QUADRUPLED -- on top of the $900k she allegedly owes the Garden State, TMZ has learned MJB has been slapped with a $3.4 MILLION bill from Uncle Sam.

The IRS filed a federal tax lien against the Grammy winner, claiming she failed to pay all her income taxes for the years 2009 ($574,907.30), 2010 ($2,203,743.53) and 2011 ($647,604.60).

Tax bill grand total: $3,426,255.43. Translation: A LOT OF FREAKING MONEY.

Of course, the IRS needs to get in line ... the State of NJ says MJB still owes $901,769.65 in back taxes. Blige is being sued for allegedly defaulting on a $2.2 million bank loan and her charity is facing a lawsuit that claims it took out a $250k loan and never paid it back.

We reached out to Mary's team for comment -- so far nada. We also alerted them to TurboTax.

Blige was hit with the $900K tax bill from New Jersey in February.

Whatever you do Mary, don't blame your tax troubles on slavery. That didn't work out too well for Lauryn Hill.

Mary J. Blige Blessed With $900K Tax Lien In New Jersey

February 17, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

Mary J. Blige's financial and tax struggle is getting out of hand. The R&B diva has been issued a $900,ooo tax lien in the state of New Jersey.

TMZ reports:

Blige -- who was JUST sued earlier this month for allegedly defaulting on a $500k bank loan -- is now on the hook for $901,769.65 in back taxes to the Garden State, this according to official documents obtained by TMZ.

The tax lien is the latest in a string of financial woes for the Grammy winner -- just last year, Mary J. was sued for allegedly defaulting on a $2.2 million bank loan .. and before that, her charity was sued for not paying back a $250k loan.

Back in May, Blige blamed the charity's financial issues on the staff -- saying, "The problem is that I didn't have the right people in the right places doing the right things."

Blige graces the cover of the latest VIBE magazine and recently portrayed the late Betty Shabazz, widow of civil rights activist Malcolm X, in a Lifetime channel movie titled Betty & Coretta.

The Yonkers native's last album, My Life II... The Journey Continues (Act 1), was released in Nov. 21. Here's the bright side; with all these hits to her bank account, we can probably expect a new Mary J. Blige album sooner than later, right?

Ray Lewis Teaches Mary J. Blige The “Squirrel Dance” At Super Bowl After Party [VIDEO]

February 5, 2013 in News by Kazeem Famuyide (@RealLifeKaz)

Ray Lewis' run has come to an end in the best way possible, as a Super Bowl champion. The only thing left to do is party.

Steve Biscotti, owner of the Baltimore Ravens, threw a $2,000,000 victory party for the team which featured a performance from Mary J. Blige. The party included a 35-foot video screen, a dozen-piece backing band and the presence of Beyoncé and Jay-Z.

During the party, Reverend Lewis took the stage with the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul and taught her how to do his famous pre-game "squirrel dance." Before asking for his entrance music of Nelly's "Hot In Herre," the soon-to-be Hall of Fame linebacker settled for a slowed down tune from the band while attempting to teach the What's The 411 singer how to enter an NFL game like a boss.

Prior to breaking into his routine, Ray and Mary thanked God for everything they've been through and thanked the city of Baltimore for sticking by their team during the run towards the Super Bowl.

After the jump, check out the video of Ray Lew and Blige getting down on stage.

Miley Cyrus Taps Pharrell, Mary J. Blige; Tyler, The Creator For New Album

January 28, 2013 in News by Kazeem Famuyide (@RealLifeKaz)

Was Hannah Montana really that long ago? Miley Cyrus talked to Cosmopolitan about her upcoming album that she calls her biggest to date.

While we don't doubt that the Disney princess isn't going to sell like gangbusters; the daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus enlisted some Hip-Hop help for her new album.

"I wrote this song with Mary J. Blige, and Tyler, the Creator heard it and said, 'I am obsessed with this song, and I will guest on it if you promise me that you will keep it on the album.' And he killed it! I really didn't want to make a hip-hop record, and I'm not trying at all to be a Rihanna or a Nicki [Minaj]....That's not my vibe," she said. "When I was growing up, my older brother would sneak me Nelly CDs, my dad had me listening to Dolly [Parton] and Johnny [Cash], and my mom is a complete metal head. So this record is a weird mixture of all that."

Although she also gets help from Pharrell, she refuses to call her project a full-on Hip-Hop project. She also goes on to say she draws inspiration from Tyler's Odd Future group mate. "Frank Ocean's record is so good. And I like that he came out and admitted he was gay, because that still affects people's careers," Cyrus tells Cosmo.  "If you don't think it does, it f---ing does, and he did not care," she said. "I think it's going to make him even bigger."
