John Legend ft. Rick Ross – “Who Do We Think We Are” [VIDEO]

May 6, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

Some would say that visuals are a lost art in the music game. While times, and budgets, have certainly changed, John Legend is one of the artists that still take pride in delivering quality treatments.

With that, we receive shots for "Who Do We Think We Are," in which an elegant soiree filled with women draped in minimal clothing plays the back drop. The video isn't exactly safe for work, but it's far from raunchy. Think high art meets eroticism, a la something you'd expect from another G.O.O.D. friend.

Beautiful women of multiple persuasions are seemingly everywhere in a mansion Legend occupies, leaving the Grammy-nominated singer no choice but to get his feel of interaction. Rick Ross assists his efforts with a smooth verse from a dark lit space outside of the party.

"Who Do We Think We Are" is the lead single from Legend's forthcoming LP Love In The Future, releasing June 25. See the captivating video below.

John Legend Says Kanye West Doesn’t Make Beats Anymore [VIDEO]

April 19, 2013 in News by D.L. Chandler

Nobody can question Kanye West's acumen as a producer. Yeezy has crafted smash hits for Jay-Z, Alicia Keys, Freeway, Nas, Lil Wayne and G.O.O.D. Music signee John Legend. Speaking of Legend, the smooth R&B crooner stopped by Power 105's The Breakfast Club morning program and chatted up the crew about working with Sade and other news.

The big bombshell he dropped, however, was revealing that Kanye West has stopped banging out the beats and instead enlists others to do his some of his heavy lifting.

To be fair, Legend didn't dump on Yeezy as if he's not involved in the music making process. The singer clarified his statements; he was careful to mention that West is still very much a producer and stating they remain close creative collaborators.

“He doesn't really make beats anymore,” shared Legend. “But he suggests beats to write to. He has all these young producers coming through and he just curates it and just helps put the album together. He helps write songs, he curates the beat selection, all that, song selection and helps with the videos.”

Legend was clear in restating the West is still hands on, after a flabbergasted Charlamagne balked at the news. Legend even added that West will still “tweak” the beats himself but he's not involved in all stages of the track as once before.

“We think of production as making beats, but production is the vision and Kanye is a producer in a classic sense, that's how Quincy Jones was,” added Legend.

John Legend's upcoming album Love In The Future is slated to drop June 25

John Legend ft. Rick Ross – “Who Do We Think We Are” [LISTEN]

March 25, 2013 in News by Alvin aqua Blanco (@aqua174)

John Legend drops a new record called "Who Wo We Think We Are," featuring Rick Ross. The tune serves as the official  lead single from the G.O.O.D. Music crooner's forthcoming album, Love In The Future.

The soul drenched song is a slow groover that also flips a "Mr. Big Stuff" (Jean Knight) sample. "See my jewels dripping on my Timerlands, stepping like a criminal, success is so imminent/Pink champagne, black Rolls Royce, eggplant double breasted suit from Tom Ford/Bon voyage left haters in the fog, look up in the sky bet you recognize a bawse," spits Rozay. Recently, news broke that the "Magnificent" rapper was armed when he was the victim of an attempted drive by.

Last week, Legend gave a taste of the album—word is the Kanye West will be co-executive producing—with a song called "The Beginning." On a side note, Legend's fiancée, Chrissy Teigen, posted a nude photo of herself online to celebrate 200K Twitter followers. Will a song about that make it onto the album?

John Legend’s Fiancée Posts Nude Image To Celebrate Having 200K Twitter Followers [PHOTO]

March 8, 2013 in News by Latifah Muhammad (@TheLatifah)

John Legend's fiancée, Chrissy Teigen, was really excited about making it to 200,000 Twitter followers. No, really. The swimsuit model  posted a nude photo of herself on Instagram to celebrate her social media milestone.

"The Gram" doesn't allow for explicit images to go up , but this one must've slipped through the cracks. In the photo, Teigen is being interviewed by a fully clothed women, as she stands there butt-naked.

Within minutes, Teigen showed (slight) regret over posting the flick, but was too drunk to really care. "Sh-t. I didn't think it was that bad but I'm on the wine," she wrote.

She also clarified the image. "It's not a n-pple it's a shadow it's not a bush it's a shadow oh god I just blew it up on my computer I get what you're saying oh no."

Drinking "the wine" must've calmed Teigen's trepidation because she never took the photo down, and neither did Instagram.

Being on Legend's arm has garnered the 27-year-old more popularity, but she's no stranger to stirring the pot on Twitter. After the Oscars last month, Teigen called 9-year-old Quvenzhané Wallis "cocky," questioning if she was "forced" to like the young actress because she was a child.

Wallis was also called a c*nt by satirical news site TheOnion.com.

See Teigen's (NSFW) nudy flick below.

USA Network Buys John Legend Crime Drama, The Edge

February 12, 2013 in News by Latifah Muhammad (@TheLatifah)

John Legend's crime drama, The Edge, has been sold to the USA network, Vibe.com reports. Legend inked an exclusive deal with Universal Cable Productions last summer, through his production company Get Lifted Film Co., and the forthcoming project marks his second show to be picked up.

USA is the sister network to UCP.

The Edge centers around "an idealistic Harvard Business School graduate named Jeff Cross who joins a progressive financial firm called Edgeton Global, where he discovers the company's dark secrets while becoming entangled in a high-stakes FBI investigation."

Writing partners, Justin Herber and Adam Hoff will handle the script, and executive produce the series alongside Legend and his partners, Mike Jackson and Ty Stiklorius. "We are very excited about our first sale though our UCP deal and look forward to many more," Legend, Jackson and Stiklorious said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter.

In October, Fox acquired one of Legends others shows, which is currently untitled and based around a male character in his 20s who becomes guardian to his siblings. Penned by Tommy Dewey and Greg Bratman, the series is loosely inspired by Legend's real life.

Premiere dates and casting information for both projects have not yet been revealed.

50 Cent Talks Features On Street King Immortal, Explains MMG Chain In Music Video [VIDEO]

January 26, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas

In a perfect world artists would release music when it's good and ready, but we know such is not the case. Today's Hip-Hop fans have become all too familiar with album push backs. With Detox over 10 years in the making and Jay Electronica playing doppelgänger, 50 Cent discussed why his forthcoming Street King Immortal LP won't see its proper release until spring.

According to Queens MC, the business side of the industry intervened this time around, but he's making the best of a bad situation by recording new material he thinks that will make the final tracklist.

"Excitingly and unexpectedly, I recorded something two nights ago that tops something that I had on the actual album" 50 Cent told FUSE. "I feel like it's getting better. I don't want to tell you what it is because both of the songs have features on them, so I don't want them to feel bad that the song's now coming off of the project and being replaced by other guys because they'll have issues with me for no reason."

Fif also announced a few big features on the project, including a track with Chris Brown titled "Lighters," produced by California's own DJ Felli Fel.

In a separate interview with MTV, the 50 was questioned about the MMG chain that appeared in the visuals for "Major Distribution." He entertainingly replied, "It came from a jeweler. Jewelers, they made it. Yeah, we got it and ended up putting it in the video. That's what rappers do: Rappers put jewelry in videos."

It's worth noting that Gunplay had his MMG chain stolen during a skirmish with member's of 50 Cent's G-Unit clique at last year's BET Hip-Hop Awards.
