Joell Ortiz – “U.O.E.N.O.” (Remix) [LISTEN/DOWNLOAD]

May 16, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

The controversial original wasn't enough to keep rappers at bay from Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O." beat. Joell Ortiz is the latest MC to drop a quick 16 over Childish Major's ambient production.

This freestyle follows a line of others over recognizable songs like Drake's "5 AM In Toronto" and Jay-Z's "Open Letter." Between the bars on the aforementioned cuts and Slaughterhouse's "House Gang," we'd say that Ortiz is coming for blood this year. Struggle rappers beware.

Hear his "U.O.E.N.O." verse below.

Slaughterhouse – “House Gang” [LISTEN]

May 9, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

CDQs of random tracks from Funkmaster Flex's Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself? mixtape have gotten liberated daily since it released. The latest happens to be a fan favorite by Slaughterhouse titled "House Gang."

DJ RellyRell provides the mafioso-style production, leaving the quartet of Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9", Crooked I, and Joe Budden to flourish in a way they know best. That's straight bars, no chorus, if your were confused. Fortunately, fans can look forward to more material from the Shady Records collective in the future.

XXL caught up with Slaughterhouse at the Gig-It launch in New York City last week, where Royce revealed that they were working on a follow up to their 2012 LP Welcome to: Our House. "We're getting started with the recording process like, yesterday," he revealed. "We're getting on that album. We've got some pretty big announcements to be excited about. We're trying to work that out right now, so that's pretty much where we are at the present time."

Until then, get your Slaughterhouse fix via "House Gang" below.

Joell Ortiz – “Roll Deep” [VIDEO]

May 7, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

Listen to any recent material Joell Ortiz, and you'll see that he's coming for blood in 2013. One of his latest displays of hard body lyrics appears on a cut from Funkmaster Flex's Who You Mad At? Me Or Yourself? mixtape, titled "Roll Deep."

The track receives a visual treatment, in which the Slaughterhouse MC embraces his heritage in his native Puerto Rico and his hometown Brooklyn. A chorus sampling M.O.P.'s own Lil' Fame chants "I roll deep like a motherf***ing Puerto Rican," rings throughout the track.

There are actually a gang of soundbites in the song, including one by Reggaeton artist Tego Calderon, who makes a cameo in the video. Credit the beat's fancy touches to the incomparable Statik Selektah, who laced the cut with hard guitar riffs and knocking drums.

We honestly can't say what's better between "Roll Deep" and "5 AM In Brooklyn." Listen to Mr. Yaowa's latest work below and let your opinions be known in the comments.

Joell Ortiz – “5 AM In Brooklyn” [LISTEN/DOWNLOAD]

April 22, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

A more than worthy MC in Joell Ortiz takes Drake's "5 Am In Toronto" to task in a freestyle debuted by Funkmaster Flex. As a proud King's County native, it was only right that he titled his "5 AM In Brooklyn."

With that, we receive a barrage of hard body rhymes from the Slaughterhouse rapper, who quite frankly had a lot to get off of his chest.

"Man the whole block changed. This the Hip-Hop game?/Sweet Kool-Aid running through a n---as' pop veins/ Must a Brooklyn n---a come through again, pop chains, smack n---as, and make them disappear like his pop's name?," is an example of where Ortiz took it in four minutes and 27 seconds of pure spitting.

At one point he deems himself the best lyricist out there, and while this is certainly debatable, this freestyle is a hell of a way to claim that title.

Hear why on "5 AM In Brooklyn" below.
