With the Internet advancing faster than ever, many Hip-Hop acts have adapted a new marketing plan when it comes to their music; give it away for free. A chosen few have been able to flip this scheme, and their fan bases into viable recording careers, others have failed miserably.

Day after day, week after week and month after month, hit up your favorite Hip-Hop website and you'll see an abundance of free mixtapes courtesy of the Mac Book generation. Some are worthy of taking up space on your hard drive, while most just are not. The trick is to give away plethora of material to the listeners, in hopes that those same fans will buy your official studio album—that comes with a barcode on and is purchasable via iTunes, record stores, or the artist's personal website—once it's released.

There are those that have ridden the mixtape-to-studio album wave to great success, i.e. Mac Miller, Kid Cudi, and Kendrick Lamar, just to name a few. But there are a lot more that seem terrified to take the commercial plunge and see who's out there willing to pay $8.99 for their record. Stuck in the Mixtape Matrix, here are 15 rappers that will never drop an album.

This, is a heater. The Bullitts drop a song called "They Die By Dawn" featuring Yasiin Bey (f/k/a the mighty Mos Def), the enigmatic Jay Electronica and actress Lucy Liu. That line up means that an in depth explanation is necessary.

Bey and Electronica drop bars and Lucy Liu narrates, while The Bullitts, who is also working on The Great Gatsby soundtrack with Jay-Z, is actually musician, filmmaker, writer and producer Jeymes Samuel. The song served as the inspiration for a short film Samuels created called They Die By Dawn. "'They Die By Dawn' is the definitive sound of the Bullitts," Jeymes told Rolling Stone, which premiered the track. "It's the epitome of what I call 'creating from the hip.'"

The movie is Western and features a sick cast that includes Michael K. Williams, Erykah Badu, Isaiah Washington and Rosario Dawson. The film is accompanied by an album, titled They Die By Dawn and Other Short Stories, which is due in stores June 4th via Kilburn Lane Music.

Ab-Soul has sought advice from his higher power: Jay Electronica. Ab appeared on MTV's RapFix Live alongside Reakwon, yesterday, and talked about how Electronica's influence has inspired him to make some life changes.

In getting to know the New Orleans rapper-- who has yet to drop his album-- Ab said that music is what binds them. "He's just a deep dude," Ab-Soul explained. "He's really who he is. Man, he's the Black God! He's a fan of my music and he connects with me on that level. I think we touch on a lot of the same things. He just hit me up out the blue."

Electronica even inspired the avid weed-smoker to get off drugs telling him that "the brain already has all of the chemicals that all of these drugs have," therefore outside substances are just a "crutch."

Elsewhere in the interview Ab talks the non-existent Black Hippy album, which he now calls "Detox 2," and gets industry advice from Rae.
