Fans of legendary trio De La Soul have been anticipating a new album since their last release in 2004. With a new track and video coming soon, De La decided to move away from the long player format and will instead focus their energies on releasing a string of monthly singles.

Last week in a Rolling Stone piece, it was announced that the Long Island natives will be putting out their first group release in nine years with “Get Away (feat. the spirit of Wu-Tang).”

The move is part of a plan to make a mark in an industry saturated by one-hit wonders and the constant flood of free mixtapes and street releases. The crew's DJ, Maseo offered his thoughts on the group's strategy to release one record a month.

“I think putting out those singles would be more impressionable than dropping an album at this present day in music,” Maseo said. “It's about trying to just creatively have a bunch of songs in the stable. You have to consider a lot from the administrative standpoint in the release of a project. I see the song that we're putting out being the perfect B-side – with a video this time."

Maseo is aware of the group's fans lack of patience and shares the same frustration. However, Plug Three explained that it's all part of keeping their legacy intact.

“It's long overdue. Trust me, man, it disgusts me how long it takes for us to make a record," Maseo continued. "Out of all the time we take, we are always happy with the finished product

Mase further added that the group will work on their eighth studio album, You're Welcome, and expressed some interest in working on movie soundtrack albums. De La Soul will also take part in the Kings Of The Mic summer tour with LL Cool J, Public Enemy and Ice Cube, which kicks off in May.

West Coast OG Ice Cube returns to the rap scene with "Crowded," the leading single from his forthcoming 10th studio album Everythang's Corrupt, due out for release later this year.

Fans will have to get acclimated to O'Shea's newfound sound, as this new track is totally different from what you're accustomed to hearing him on. Nevertheless, the MC is making his full return to Hip-Hop this year, and will appear on the "King of the Mic" tour with LL Cool J, Public Enemy and De La Soul this Summer.

LL Cool J is considered a GOAT rapper by many and this new tour he just announced is worthy of such esteem. The "Kings of the Mic" tour will be headlined by Uncle L and also will include legendary Hip- Hop acts Ice Cube, Public Enemy and De La Soul.

Rap- Up reports that the 25-date national tour will start on May 23 in at the Ava Ampitheater in Tucson, Ariz. and hit cities like Minneapolis, San Francisco and Baltimore before concluding on July 5 at the Essence Music Festival in New Orleans.

The tour will be right on time to promote the Queens rapper's new album, Authentic, which is due in stores April 30. Just yesterday, the "Mama Said Knock You Out" rapper dropped the latest single from the forthcoming project titled "We Came To Party," featuring Snoop Dogg and Fatman Scoop. Recently, LL hosted and performed at the Grammy Awards and was also spotted performing at this year's SXSW festival.
