50 Cent Says He Has No Desire To Meet His Biological Father [VIDEO]

April 17, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

It's entertaining to see 50 Cent share how his mind words in tidbits, considering that just ten years ago he was most known as the rapper who survived getting shot nine times. Larry King recently sat down with the Queens native, who is now a Forbes list regular, to discuss his road to success, his future endeavors, his favorite MCs and more.

"Money was always the visible financial restraint, because I grew up in without finances," recalled 50, referring to the inspiration behind his debut album's title, Get Rich Or Die Tryin'.

The G-Unit frontman's upbringing was a frequently discussed topic during the sit down, most notably losing his mother at the tender age at eight years old. 50 admits that he didn't fully grasping the concept of death initially.

"They would consistently say, 'She's not coming back,' and I'm like 'Yea, she is. My grandfather looked at me like, 'He really doesn't understand.'"

Growing up without a mother had it's implications, as 50 became fairly acquainted with the concept of death and trouble. He credited some of that to not having a father. "I never knew my father. I never actually met him," said the "We Up" rapper.

"Some people have that thing where they actually want that parent that they haven't had in their lives for a long time. Nah, I have no interests in it. The mistakes I made early on Larry, he could have been there to help me not make those mistakes."

50 has done fairly well for himself, considering his conditions. The mogul recently introduced his boxing promotions company SMS Promotion. Hear the rapper drop countless jewels in the full interview below.

50 Cent Discusses Business Ventures In ‘Music Is My Sport’ Feature [VIDEO]

April 4, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas (@ChrisThomas266)

50 Cent is on undoubtedly one of Hip-Hop's greatest rags to riches tales ever. Having ascended to one of the culture's most successful figures, despite being previously most known for getting shot nine times, the G-Unit frontman is focused on the release of his forthcoming album Street King Immortal and boxing promotions company SMS Promotions. He discussed this and more in a feature with Vevo titled "Music Is My Sport."

"If you saw where I come from versus where I'm at now, you wouldn't believe how many changes I've been through," began 50. "People have expectations about people like me. The life I live, the music I make, the world I come from, they assume that you're a certain way. I've had to fight against being typecast my whole career."

With over 15 years in the game and 10 years since he released Get Rich Or Die Tryin', 50 has broken down many of those barriers. He's currently looking to build the SMS Promotions brand, and admits the similarities between boxing and rap drew him in.

"SMS promotions is like a dream for me. It allows me to live vicariously through the fighters that are around it. I'm not a fighter, but I get a chance to be one every now and then."

See 50 talk more about business ventures as a artist, actor, author and a boxing promoter in the footage below.

Shawty Lo Bounces Back with I’m Da Man 4, Says He’s Not Hot Enough To An Drop LP Yet

March 1, 2013 in News by Nadine Graham

As the masses chuckled at the cancellation of his polarizing reality show, Shawty Lo was already stirring another pot, prepping for the release of his 14th mixtape, I'm Da Man 4, which dropped on Tuesday (February 26). The Atlanta rapper rarely rests on the laurels of his past hits for too long. There's too much left to be done.

On Wednesday night (February 27), Lo held a listening session at Hot Beats Studios in Midtown Atlanta where he played IDM 4 three times in its entirety. “My favorite track on I'm Da Man is probably one through 17,” he tells Hip-Hop Wired, “It's hard to choose man...” In recording the tape, the “New Money” creator revealed that he was ready with more than 100 songs. “I got so many songs that the next mixtape may be dropping within the next two months,” he boasts with a grin, “I wanted to drop one every month but they said it was too fast.”

Although he doesn't necessarily need to, Lo can rely on the rapport between most A-Town artists to help create southern-fried smashes, keeping his D4L imprint in the loop years after the snap music sub-culture waned in popularity. “People just fall in [to the studio],” he shares, “Whether I'm at my studio, Gucci [Mane]'s studio, at Patchwerk or here at Hot Beats, the city's so big with artists, it's really just about the timing.”

50 Cent Says There Will Be No G-Unit Reunion, Doesn’t “Give A F**k About A Blog Post”

February 1, 2013 in News by Kazeem Famuyide (@RealLifeKaz)

If you were waiting on a G-Unit reunion after Game created a petition to get the group back together, 50 Cent doesn't want you to hold your breath.

"You're not gonna get nothing back together," 50 said to AOL Boombox. "I decide that. I do what I want to do. I don't give a f**k what they talking about on a blog post."

In a recent interview with the website, 50 Cent dismissed Game's recent petition to get the group back together GunitReunion.com as nothing more than a publicity stunt. "Every time there was nothing going on [Game] said "F**k you, 50," to generate some sort of new interest," he explained. But now that doesn't work anymore. So you gotta figure out a new way to do it. And now it's saying, 'We'll get G-Unit back together!'"

Without referring to himself directly, Mr. Jackson stated that their might still be long festering animosity between group members that can possibly boil over. "If it worked it would be something cool that I did," he said. [But] what would you say if I actually did put it together and then it fell apart right in front of you? Or if I bring them around each other and their feelings from a long time -- the disrespect and the talking -- bleed over into the people that are just around them and then one of them gets shot and killed, or one of them gets stabbed and hurt bad. Then what?"

Well when you put it that way, Fif, nobody wants to get shot or killed.

Are You Qualified?: Shawty Lo Speaks To Students At Atlanta’s B.E.S.T. Academy [PHOTOS]

February 1, 2013 in News by Chris Thomas

Less that 48 hours after Gucci Mane tried his hand at shaping the youth at Crawford Long Middle School, Shawty Lo receives an opportunity to do the same. Yeah, you read that right. Today, Altanta's B.E.S.T. Academy played host to the "Dey Know" rapper, who gave students some positive words for moving forward.

As if the Gucci Mane situation wasn't enough, here we have Shawty Lo. Really. We can't make this up. And let's be frank. In all of Atlanta, there has to be another person that can better connect with kids than Shawty Lo. And that's no slight towards B.E.S.T. Academy's decision to chose a rapper to be a guest speaker. That's actually understandable. But, the school could have selected an artist that wasn't arrested for failure to pay child support just two weeks ago.

Preceding the arrest, Shawty Lo was petitioning to get his controversial reality show, All My Babies' Mamas, brought to other networks after it was dropped by Oxygen. Ironically, "Would you rather see 11 children struggle with mothers on welfare?," was his first line of defense in the petition.

In a recent interview the G-Unit affiliated rapper stated, "There are offers on the table," before adding, "I take pride in having been actively present in all my children's lives -- and I understand my family doesn't represent the typical American family, but it's my family and it works for us."

It's our guess that Shawty Lo intended to spread some of that family love to the students at B.E.S.T. Academy. Heres to hoping that his efforts were effective.

Check out photos of Shawty Lo's teaching the youth on the following pages.

50 Cent Says A G-Unit Reunion Is “Probably Not” Going To Happen [LISTEN]

January 27, 2013 in News by Latifah Muhammad (@TheLatifah)

Don't tell Lloyd Banks, but 50 Cent isn't looking to reunite with his G-Unit comrades anytime soon.

As frontrunner of the crew, whatever 50 says goes and even though he teased the very same idea a few weeks ago, when asked of getting back together with his cold cronies, he turned the option down.

During an interview on Sirius Hip Hop Nation show, Ear Candy Mornings, the Queens rapper put an end to the speculation, by answering "Probably not," when asked of a G-Unit reboot. "You have people that grow in different directions," said Ferrari. "If you have grown men involved in business transactions who are around each other, surrounded by the same thing…I've offered everything that I could offer to G-Unit, I allowed them to be in front of my audience the entire time, develop their own fan base and have people recognize their attributes and their defects at that point, so what do yo u do?"

As for satisfying others interested in a G-Unit reunion, 50 could care less. "I don't care what other people want. I don't give a f-ck what they want. A G-Unit reunion? Kiss my motherf-cking a-- as far as that's concerned. I think when we get to the point when the public is saying something, it's a trend it's an idea that one person had and other people following, when did it dissolve? It dissolved [because] they didn't actually support the project."

Also in the interview 50 talks bloggers, boxing, and more on his feud with Floyd Mayweather.
